Echoes of the Garden

Echoes of the Garden is a location-based narrative puzzle game set in the Calouste Gulbenkian Gardens in Lisbon. Players are invited to follow a mysterious series of clues that guide them through the garden — each one revealing a new fragment of story and a new challenge to solve.

Across ten narrative stations, players encounter a variety of puzzles — from cryptography and word searches with hidden messages to logic and transparency-based riddles that merge the digital with the physical environment.

Before moving forward, each puzzle must be solved to unlock the next narrative moment. Players can share their answers with a handler on-site or upload them online to receive the next clue, gradually piecing together the full story.

A special link also leads to a “Petroleum Scanner” — a digital tool that analyzes which object was connected to each strange, oily experience. Players can use it to check their answers or engage with the narrative remotely if they don’t have access to the tangible materials.
